These limits are revisited according to the recommendations given by the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). This makes it necessary for the vehicle owners to get their vehicles certified every six months in order to avoid any penalties. 

Note: The penalty for not carrying the PUC certificate is Rs.1000 for the first time and Rs.2000 for every subsequent time.
