Legend of Zelda is possibly the most legendary and iconic video game series ever. From the very first Zelda of 1986 to best-selling record-breaker Breath of the Wild and its follow-up Tears of the Kingdom, Link, Zelda, and Ganon’s adventures have captivated a million players.
And now we’re all just sitting here guessing about the million-dollar question: What’s in store for Zelda?

Which Console Will the Next Zelda Game Show Up On?
It will most likely show up on Nintendo’s new system.
Switch came out in 2017. It is more than 7 years old today. Everybody’s waiting with bated breath for Nintendo to release a new console in 2025.

Next Zelda game can truly be made using that new hardware
It can truly come out with improved graphics and performance
It can even introduce new gameplay mechanics due to new hardware

Is It Going to Be a Sequel or Not?
This is one of the biggest questions on everybody’s lips.
Will the sequel proceed from where the tale of Breath of the Wild concludes or will Nintendo and do something else?
These are the options:
- Another Sequel – Third in the same series, same open world but with different features and with a different story. Similar to a trilogy.
- A New Zelda Story – New characters, location, and world. Similar to Wind Waker not being the same as Ocarina of Time.
- A Top-Down Zelda – A top-down Zelda. Such as A Link Between Worlds or the remastered Link’s Awakening title.
- A Zelda Spin-Off – Such as Hyrule Warriors or a spin off where Zelda is the star.
Whatever it actually turns out to be, however, is perfectly fine with fans who are content to play something new and different.

Play as Zelda
For years already, the fans have been asking that they be allowed to play as Princess Zelda. It is time, everyone believes.
Maybe she will have magical powers, maybe she will get to have Link as a friend. A Zelda game would be such an experience.
More Dungeons
Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom spent more open-world time exploring. Something that fans have missed in the classic, theme-park dungeons:

Water Temple
Shadow Temple
Fire Dungeon
The new game can restore some of them too.
More Challenge from Enemies and Boss Battles
While the last two games also featured difficult enemies, what players most desire are longer, more challenging boss battles, like ginormous monsters that take actual skill to kill.
Alternate Art Style
Every Zelda title is unique to behold. Some of us like a different look—a new dark and foreboding one, maybe a bright bubblegum one like Wind Waker.
Customization
We need to be able to create our own equipment, swords, and armor. Tears of the Kingdom did that with merchandise. Why not let us create our own Master Sword upgrades?
Voice Acting
Tears of the Kingdom had more voice acting. Others desire full voice acting for all characters, like Link (at least for Zelda, though).
Co-op Mode
You want: playing with a friend, each Link, each Zelda, co- op on bosses and puzzles.

The Twilight Realm – A shadowy, mysterious world
A New Kingdom – A place we’ve never seen before
A fresh map, with new regions and secrets, would give players more to explore.
New Gameplay Ideas Fans Have Been Waiting For
Besides locations, fans are dreaming of new mechanics. Some of the great ideas are as follows:
Shape-Shifting Link – Like Majora’s Mask, make Link transform into a Zora, Goron, or even a unique creature.
Magic Crafting – Build a spell or brew a potion with items you find.
Companion Pets – Loyal pet sidekick that assists in combat or finds hidden data.
Underwater Findings – Wander in the depths of sea, lake, or underwater lab.
Time Traveler – Travel back and forth through time to reveal mysteries.
